On Halloween 2018 I was the organist for “Semain”, an all-day event for children, organized by Boulevard Saint-Laurent. We performed outside, in Parc des Amériques in Montréal. It was my first time performing outside in minus 3 degree rainy weather!
On Sunday, October 28th at 15h30 I performed a concert at Saint-Joseph’s Oratory in Montréal, cloing the concert series “Ces femmes qui jouent de l’orgue”. The repertoire included mostly female romantic composers, of whom at least 2 – Senfler and Andrée – seems to have been Canadian premières – however, no official confirmation could be obtained.
After Hélène Paul and His Excellency Lionel Gendron, bishop of Saint-Jean-Longueuil, the Vital Organ Project (USA), a duo founded by Graeme Shields and Tyler Jamison Pimm, to promote contemporary organ music, joined the consortium of sponsors of my Organ Interlude cycle, a project of organist Gabrielle Tessier. They commissioned the third Interlude of the series, which will ideally comprise five.
On October 8th, 2018, I gave workshop on liturgical improvisation at Saint-François-d’Assise parish in Ottawa, ON. The workshop was part of the annual Study day of LAUDEM, the Association of liturgical musicians of Canada. Other presenters included Michel Guimont, Gilles Leclerc and Pierre Grondines.
During the night between October 6th and 7th 2018, during the Radio programme “Night horizon” on Bulgarian National Radio, were played the recordings of my work Salve, Regina, sung by Jean-Pierre Couturier, and of his Te Deum in the Mohawk language, sung by myself. The disc can be purchased HERE
On September 30, 1028, for the third time I played the organ for the largest annual religious gathering in Québec: the pilgrimage of the Italian communities in Montréal at the Saint-Joseph Oratory, organized by the Conferenza dei sacerdoti italiani di Montréal.
I am particularly proud of the Offertory hymn, À cause d’une croix by Robert Lebel, used and translated by Lina Saracino, with his permission. Some of the older Italians speak only rudimentary French, but they worked really hard to perform it.
The official video, made by Leandro Phederrico, lasts 16 min. You can watch it HERE
